Bob has been building custom homes, condominiums and multi-family projects for over forty years. A life-long resident of Ocean City, Bob grew up in the historic downtown of 8th Street and Wesley Avenue and has a first hand appreciation of Ocean City’s classic, traditional, art deco and modern architecture.
Having gone through the Ocean City school system, Bob graduated from Ocean City High School in 1971. He attended Rutgers University, New Brunswick, graduating with a BA degree in American literature and anthropology. While attending college, Bob worked summers and college breaks for a local home builder gaining first hand experience in all phases of residential and light commercial construction, including foundations, concrete, masonry, framing, finish carpentry, roofing and siding work. Upon graduating from Rutgers, Bob studied design and construction management at the University of Montana, Missoula. He returned home to Ocean City in the fall of 1976, and by utilizing both his formal and practical education, decided to fulfill his life-long dream of constructing buildings. He successfully passed the Ocean City Builder’s examination and started his journey as Robert Coste Registered Builder.
In the next few years, Bob’s hard work, integrity, organizational skills and utmost concern for quality gained him success and recognition as one of Ocean City’s premier and respected builders. He built a reputation on finishing projects on time and within budget. The growth of his business promoted him to Incorporate in 1982 to the present organization of Robert Coste, Inc.
Since that time, Bob and the staff of Robert Coste, Inc. have completed hundreds of custom single family homes, condominium units, medium-rise residential structures, as well as many additions, renovations, historical restorations and have provided reliable maintenance services for all of their projects. His staff is full time and shares his experience, commitment to service and longevity on the job and includes secretarial, estimating, field supervision, service personnel and design and budget consultation.
Even-though the primary focus of Robert Coste, Inc. has been in Ocean City, the company has completed numerous projects in Upper Township, Avalon, North Wildwood, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, and Egg Harbor Township.
Today, Bob resides in Ocean City. His experience in construction has promoted him to be appointed to numerous municipal boards and committees. Bob has served the community on the Ocean City Builders Examination Board, the Ocean City Historical Commission and the Ocean City Planning Board. He is past president of the Ocean City Builder’s Association and has acted as a liaison between the building trades, the city administration and the community.
